What Does a Typical Session Look Like?
Simple, joyful, and immersive—here's what your family can expect at each 45-minute Hindi immersion session.
Weekend Sessions
Each session is 45 minutes—just the right length to keep young learners engaged. No homework, no pressure—just pure immersion. Check our upcoming sessions to sign up!
Play-Based Immersion
Every class features a unique activity—crafts, storytelling, games, or role-play—all conducted entirely in Hindi. Learning happens through joy, not drills.
Dance & Music Finale
Every class ends on a high note—children and parents dance together to fun Hindi music. It’s the highlight of each session!
Whole Family Participates
Each child must be accompanied by at least one Hindi-speaking adult who participates throughout the session. Both parents and siblings are welcome—the more Hindi your child hears, the better!
Dress the Part
Children and adults come dressed in Indian ethnic wear—normalizing traditional clothing so kids feel proud and comfortable in their heritage. When children see their peers dressed the same way, it builds confidence and a sense of belonging.
Ages 1–6: The Golden Window
Children ages 1–6 are welcome, though our activities are designed with toddlers in mind. Young children absorb language naturally through immersion, developing stronger problem-solving skills, better memory, and enhanced creativity—a cognitive edge that lasts a lifetime.

Where We Meet
Magnolia, Seattle
Our sessions are held in public community spaces throughout the Magnolia neighborhood—libraries, parks, and community centers—so families can gather in welcoming, accessible environments. For the safety of the group, the exact location is shared only with families who have signed up.
$10 per child per session
Covers materials, facility costs, cleaning, and helps ensure committed participation.
Our Story
I'm Namita Das, a mom of two kids, and I've lived in Seattle since 2010. For years, English was my default—at home, with friends, everywhere. But when my daughter was born, something shifted. I realized that if I wanted her to grow up feeling connected to her heritage—to understand the warmth of Hindi, the humor in its idioms, and the joy of speaking it with family—I had to start with myself.
I made a conscious choice to speak Hindi at home. I also made sure that friends who visited us only spoke to us in Hindi, so my daughter could see that her parents and people from her cultural background communicate with each other in Hindi. It wasn't always easy, but it made all the difference.
When my daughter turned a toddler, I started Khushi Ka Darbaar as a community program. I believe the best way to learn Hindi isn't through textbooks or flashcards—it's through play, laughter, and community.
The idea is simple: we get together, do fun activities, and follow one golden rule—we only speak in Hindi. This gives our children a chance to hear us interacting in Hindi and helps them find “Hindi-speaking friends” to grow up with.
What started as a small meetup among friends has grown into something bigger. Now, we're opening our doors to every family in Seattle who wants their children to experience the richness of Hindi language and culture.
